Yellow Canaries shot stopper Mert Günok spoke to reporters, following Monday evening's friendly victory over KRC Genk. The 21-year-old goalkeeper impressed both fans and the technical staff with his cool saves and firm blocks, as he kept his cleansheet. "Volkan Demirel helps us young keepers a great deal. Together we will protect the Fener goal in the new season and work hard to be successful," said Mert Günok.

Fenerbahçe claimed their first win of the preseason Monday.  The Yellow Canaries defeated Belgian squad KRC Genk 3-0 behind a trio of goals from Gökhan Ünal, Alex de Souza, and Selçuk Şahin.  Coach Aykut Kocaman opted to go with a number of new faces in Monday's match, including Mert Günok replacing Volkan Babacan in goal.

Fenerbahçe continued their pre-season preparations in Belgium with a practice session on Monday morning. While the Yellow Canaries prepared for their third friendly against KRC Genk, injured players Emre Belözoğlu, Mehmet Topuz and Semih Şentürk sat out today's training. The club also announced that Emre, who is currently suffering from an intestinal infection, will be reporting back to Istanbul later tonight.

Fenerbahçe manager Aykut Kocaman spoke to reporters Saturday afternoon, following his team's 5-2 loss to FC Köln.  It was the team's second friendly of the preseason, and their second defeat as well.  After Saturday's match, Kocaman said he was extremely disappointed in the performance and mentality of his squad.
