Mateja Kezman joined Fenerbahce prior to the 2006-2007 season with the reputation of being a prolific goal-scorer. He came to Kadikoy after stints with Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, and PSV Eindhoven among others.
With PSV Eindhoven, Kezman earned his reputation as being a goal-scoring machine. He netted 126 goals in 172 appearances from 2000-2004 with the Dutch giants. His offensive prowess made him a hot commodity in Europe, and he joined England’s Chelsea FC in 2004. He made 37 appearances for Chelsea that season before moving to Spain’s Atletico Madrid. He scored 10 goals in 33 appearances with Atletico Madrid before signing with Fenerbahce.
Kezman has been capped 49 times for his native Serbian National Team, scoring 17 goals. Kezman has missed time during the 2007-2008 season with Fenerbahce due to injury, but he recently returned and scored four goals in the Fortis Turkiye Cup against Alanyaspor. Nicknamed “Batman,” Kezman wears the #9 shirt for the Yellow Canaries.
