Christoph Daum spoke to reporters Sunday night following his team's last-moment draw against Diyarbakırspor. The coach talked about his team's scoring chances, as well as his opponent's defensive efforts. Daum also said that despite an unfavorable result tonight, the team wouldn't let the game get them down.
Christoph Daum told reporters after Sunday's match that Diyarbakırspor were the more aggressive team, stating that his team were unable to get into enough scoring positions in front of the goal. "Diyarbakırspor did not allow us to get into many scoring positions," Daum said. "We fell behind 1-0 and were able to tie it up at 1-1, thankfully. We needed to create more pressure. We had the ball more, but we were unable to create opportunities for ourselves in front of the goal. We're not satisfied with this," the coach said.
"When the players and team put forth a great effort, the fans are happy. Our opponents today played well. They played good defense and were solid in the goalkeeper position as well."
Daum said the team won't let today's result get to them. "We are thinking positive. We could have lost this game as well. We wanted to score tonight's goal with all our strength and we did. We'll see at the end of the season if the points we've collected is enough or not," he said.
"We tried many things today, but unfortunately all we got was one point. They played good defense and every time we shot they had defenders waiting to deflect our chances. Of course, you want to earn three points from every match, but we earned a point, and hopefully it will be good for us at the end of the season. We played with a lot of energy today and possibly could have created more chances for a goal."
Daum said he was happy with the way his team fought back for a draw. "I'm pleased with the way my team used their strength to come back after we fell behind 1-0. I don't want anyone's head to be down. We're happy after this match. The way we performed under the pressure of being down and in a tight match is something I'm happy with. We played with good energy, and maybe with a few more minutes of added time, we could have won tonight," he said.
The Canaries' boss also talked about the four players the team lost Sunday night, including Lugano, Özer, Güiza and Mehmet Topuz. "We have four people out, but a week away we also had four players missing. You're going to have disadvantages like that from time to time, but hopefully it won't happen to us again for a while. Hopefully everyone, with the exception of Uğur, obviously, will be back soon."

Before the match I thought it was going to be easy but I forget that no match is ever easy, especially in front of such a high expecting crowd.
